Julia chats to the Gals FC team

Gals FC is the football club that doesn't keep score in games.
They play to play and exist solely to give gals a good time.  Set up by the original Gals, Lorne and Nora
they have over 50 venues across England where a community of women comes together
each week to play football and have a good time.  Think Couch to 5k but for women's football.

Nora and Lorne also host their brilliant Gals FC podcast, inviting
women in sport, community and leadership to join them and select a 5 a-side
team of inspiring women.  Julia joined them
recently to explore the power of role models, community, and the women who
shape us.

Julia shared her five-a-side Dream Team, and each choice came with a story that
shows exactly why she built Eleven as One and what drives her mission in women’s sport.

Here’s who made her lineup 🙌

⚽️

Alex Scott “Alex saw boundaries and walked straight through them and she still
makes time to lift young girls coming up behind her.”

🏃‍♀️
Kathrine Switzer “Kathrine didn’t just run a marathon, she ran a path for
millions of women to follow.”

📣
Laura Youngson “Laura
shows what happens when women help other women rise and she opens doors and
brings you with her.”

🫡
Sarina Wiegman “Sarina proved you can be fiercely competitive and deeply human
at the same time. She’s redefined leadership in football.”

🤗
Betty Morgan (Julia’s Nana) + volunteers everywhere “My Nana believed sport
could cure anything and she inspired a whole family of volunteers who keep
grassroots sport alive.”

The episode is full of moments that remind us why representation matters, why
we need women building for women, and why sport continues to be one of the most
powerful places for connection and change.
